This is the opening sequence to the latest DVD that we have made in conjunction with Devon Partnership NHS Trust, concerning caring for someone suffering from Dementia, in the home, care home and in hospital.
The DVD is a learning resource for care staff (domicilary and care home), hospital staff and primary care staff. It is divided into several chapters which cover aspects of dementia care from diagnosis to end of life/dignified death.
The DVD was produced by DVX Productions in conjunction with Devon Partnership NHS Trust and South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
Using (very convincing!) actors and healthcare volunteers we were able to follow one man’s journey, Jack, covering aspects of his dementia right through to the end of life. This film is aimed at healthcare professionals who care for dementia sufferers and show good practice and how you should deal with situations that occur. Expertly presented by Dr. David Somerfield & Dr. Joanna Wildgoose, filmed & edited by Alan Tibbitts, this was a very challenging project but extremely rewarding and we hope that this becomes an extremely valuable training tool for healthcare professionals worldwide.
